A sequence of real-time melodica improvisations recorded between 12th & 15th April 2016.

The SOLO instrument is a VERY OLD Hohner Melodica Alto (one of the red ones with buttons) which is barely in tune with itself let alone anything else, in fact it's now around 32 cents sharp of concert, hence both the title and the VOLCA BASS (see below) which is at least TUNEABLE. This is played through a Sure SM 57 going through the compression of a KORG KAOSSILATOR PRO (which also provides the cheesy synth on #6 Vav) then into a VOX DELAY LAB on which I loop and dub in further real-time process of the various & variable musical performance parameters at work here.

I like the term SONATA, then the other stuff becomes a matter of CONTINUO, which in this case is a KORG VOLCA BASS and the drum component of KORG MONOTRIBE, both used in real-time (no pre-programming here - it all happens as part of the musical process) and affected by respective MXR analogue delay pedals to a greater or lesser extent.

I still see the melodica as a sacred instrument & so play it with due reverence to the masters - Augustus Pablo, Bernie Worrell, Don Cherry to name but three. I had no titles for any of these so I've numbered them in Hebrew to add to the Ancient Biblical Vibe, which is purely an aspect of the folkloric cultural aestheticism and has nothing whatsoever to do with religion per se. The sacredness is human.

To mangle a quote : free your ASS and your MIND will follow; what's WITHIN is the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.
